RTE News
Bleep, Bleep, Bleep
This is the RTE News
Twenty years of war
Packaged nice and neat
One side of the story
Comforting sounds and voices
Sandhurst, Dublin, Lisburn,
Keep it nice and neat.

This is the RTE News
Roll out the safe bets
South Africa, Nicaragua, Poland,
One-sided voice 50 miles away
Don't challenge it
Keeping the peace
The warring factions apart
Violence for Queen and country
Distorts the facts of life
Keep it nice and neat.

This is the RTE News
Second-class citizens
People of no property
Gag their voices
Their voice doesn't count
Doesn't suit the picture
Upsets the smug comfort
The sham face of freedom
Keep it nice and neat.

This is the RTE News
Don't tell it as it happens
Roll out the safe bets
Maginnis, Mates, Hume,
Harris' law prevails
Cruiser sets the mould
RTE journalists self-censorship
Over to Charlie Bird
And keep it nice and neat.
